Luxury and Elegance: A Perfect Getaway atThe Tempus at Charlton Hall Estate
Talli and I embarked on a road trip across the UK, spending the previous few days exploring Scotland’s tourist sites and completing the NC500, basking in the beauty of its white sand beaches. Our journey culminated in an 11-hour drive from John O’Groats, along the west coast, through Inverness, and finally to the Charlton Hall Estate, just outside Durham.
The drive was grueling but mesmerizing, witnessing both the sunrise and sunset in one trip. We arrived at Charlton Hall around 9 PM, after a quick stop at the local Tesla chargers. Exhausted yet eager to rest, we were instantly captivated by the estate. The private drive, hidden among trees, opened up to reveal a stunning estate that seemed to appear out of nowhere. The modern design, gravel roads, and the serene ambiance created by chirping birds and a misty fog made it feel like a surreal retreat.
At the reception, we were warmly greeted by a lovely woman who informed us of our accommodation. Initially, we thought we had the entire building to ourselves, but we soon discovered we had an entire apartment on the upper floor. The room’s design was straight out of an Ikea catalogue, featuring beautiful colors, fashionable tiles, a walk-in wet shower, and a deep bath where I later indulged in a glass of red wine and bubbles. The large mirrors and perfectly placed side lighting added to the room’s elegance.
The bed was incredibly comfy and luxurious, ensuring a restful night. The highlight of our stay was the exquisite breakfast the next morning. I had Eggs Benedict, which was simply out of this world, complemented by a cold continental selection with all the fresh items we could desire.
Charlton Hall Estate exceeded our expectations in every way. It was, without a doubt, the best accommodation on our journey. I would recommend anyone to stay here, and if given the chance, I would definitely return.
